Why is the furniture called Featherweight?
Because it is lighter than conventional furniture when assembled and breaks down into smaller parts to make it the most portable furniture on the market. It was designed by a home stager so that she could move furniture in and out of houses easily.
What is the furniture made of?
The furniture is composed of LLDPE [linear low density polyethylene] Resin with the look and feel of sculptured stone. It is particularly strong and scratch resistant and weather proof. We are proud to say Featherweight Furniture is MADE IN AMERICA.
Is the furniture comfortable as well as strong?
You won’t ever want to get up from your comfortable perch. The seat cushions are 5 inches thick and 3 inch cushions give comfortable back support.
What are the dimensions of the furniture?
The furniture is scaled for smaller living spaces such as lofts, dorms and decks and also narrow passage ways. Because the furniture is modular you have the option to make the sofa as long as you want. Dimensions are listed in the product descriptions.
Why is Featherweight Furniture so Portable?
Each complete piece is a combination of smaller parts that are assembled without the use of tools. For example, the components of an entire sofa can be shipped in two 24"x26"x26" boxes. The components necessary to assemble two arm chairs, a sofa, and 4 casual chairs will fit in a standard minivan with room left for personal belongings or furnishings. See the configuration chart.
How heavy are the boxes?
It depends on what you order, however, no box weighs more than 50 lbs and ships from Ohio to California via UPS in 4 days.
Can the cushions be replaced or other pieces be purchased?
Each component of our furniture is available separately. If you need to replace a cushion or convert a chair into a sofa you have only to purchase the relevant parts.
If I’m using Featherweight Furniture outside, or in a dorm room, can it be stored easily when it’s not in use.
That’s one of the best features of Featherweight Furniture. Just as you can fit many pieces in a minivan, your complete furnishings on the patio or in the dorm room can be broken down into small parts and kept in the garage or shed until they are needed again. Even the cushions are protected from the elements because they are tucked inside a vinyl bag and stored in the seat.
